Fine Furniture, Decorating and Home Design at the Mountain Home in Evergreen, Colorado | Mountain Home

Mountain Home remains as the operating element of the second oldest business in Evergreen.  It began as a Moving and Storage Company in 1924 and progressed through numerous transformations, emerging as one of the top Hardware stores in the area.  Mountain Home was just a small department in The Hardware, until the hardware business was liquidated and Mountain Home remained as the surviving heir to a great legacy of customer service in Evergreen.

About

“We’ve always hunted for special pieces and that’s what we’ve always found at Mountain Home. The quality is superb, and the service is spectacular.”
-- Beverly Bemis, Evergreen

Mountain Home occupies what used to be the barn of the Historic Hiwan Homestead, and the original building persists in most of its original, and colorful state.  It has proven to be a wondeful place to display furniture, accessories, carpets in a setting that evokes the textures and materials of mountain homes... warm and inviting.  Not many businesses exist after 85 years--certainly, this one is not the same today as when it started--but it has a thread that has always defined it... a great love for its community and for its customers.

Testimonials                    Back to Top

“Kay’s got a lot of positive energy and great ideas. She’s extremely honest, which is a really big deal to me.”
-- Linn Halliday, owner, Landmark Homes, Conifer“

The furniture is just so well made, it will last forever. It's very classic, the kind of furniture you'll still like after 20 years!”
-- Jill Clodfelter, Denver

"Kay helped us design our central living room. She took the time to figure out how we wanted it to be. She didn't roll in with everything preconceived. We wanted to get up in the morning, grab our newspaper and coffee, and sit there comfortably. We've bought too many houses with too many rooms we never used. The only measure of success we had was: Do we now use the room? The answer is yes. It's where we want to be. It's a total success."

"As far as service, Kay would ache if someone thought she had anything but their best interest at heart. She is delighted to have you come into the store. We stop by just to say hello. We don't do that at Sears."
-- Eric and Nancy Protzman, Evergreen

"Peggie quickly caught on to our vision of how we wanted our room to feel. She 'got it' and the room far exceeds our expectations."

"Peggie is very easy to work with. She is wonderful with suggestions and she listens, which is very important to us. She then delivers. She is a gem and a keeper."

"Peggie goes that extra mile and provides the most exceptional customer service from start to finish on all projects she takes on."

"We are so proud to have guests over and watch their jaws drop when they see our newly decorated rooms. All the positive comments just make my heart sing."

"Peggie and the Mountain Home staff have an excellent eye for design and products. They purchase items new and old that are unique and not cookie cutter."
--Anna Sullivan Fallico

"Mountain Home gave me direction on what the possibilities were for my home and together we created exactly what my vision was. It actually came out better than I had visualized."

"Peggie really understands the vision you describe, and she knows how to reach into that and pull out what you're looking for."

"Anybody can sell you furniture, but Peggie put together the accents that made my home look much more layered and sophisticated."

"You can buy nice furniture, but if you don't have the right end tables, pillows, rugs, candles and pictures, it ends up looking kind of empty."

"My son says my house is like one of the resorts you go to for a week because you can’t afford to live there."

"I checked out other furniture companies. Mountain home is positioned perfectly between value and quality."

"I gave Peggie a key to my house -- that probably sums up how I feel about her."
